Officially authorized swimming in the Seine at Paris and other urban bodies of water.
After the success of the swimming spots in the River Seine last year, Paris authorities have confirmed that the open-water swimming areas will return in the summer of 2026.
In summer 2026, Paris will open 11 swimming sites – including 3 in the Seine, for a historic return to swimming in the Seine!
From July 2026, Paris will be welcoming freshwater enthusiasts with a unique event
This symbolic return – for the first time in 100 years – is part of the lasting legacy of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Eleven supervised bathing sites will be open from July 2025. These include three new sites in the Seine: Bercy (12th arrondissement), with its two pools, urban beach and view of the François-Mitterrand Library; Louis-Philippe (4th arrondissement), under the bridge of the same name (replacing the Bras Marie site), right in the heart of historic Paris; and Bras de Grenelle (15th arrondissement), opposite the Statue of Liberty, ideal for families.
These developments are made possible by a vast plan to clean up the Seine. In addition, well-known sites such as the Bassin de la Villette, the Canal Saint-Martin and several urban beaches also welcome bathers. Well-defined, free, accessible and supervised zones, subject to daily health checks, guarantee a safe experience.
The perfect opportunity to enjoy a refreshing summer, without leaving the city!
